TRACY B. RANE

Background:

Tracy Rane has been practicing law for more than thirteen years.  Ms. Rane began her career as an associate with Kirkland & Ellis, where she represented clients in numerous complex commercial litigation matters.  Ms. Rane continued her career at Leopold Petrich & Smith, where her practice was focused on entertainment litigation, including copyright, trademark, right of publicity, defamation, and right of privacy matters.  Ms. Rane joined McPherson & Kalmansohn LLP in May of 2005, and became a partner of McPherson Rane LLP in 2008.  

Experience:

Ms. Rane has handled numerous matters involving copyright, trademark, defamation, right of publicity, insurance coverage and bad faith, rights of privacy, breach of contract, and general civil litigation.  During her career, Ms. Rane has engaged in all phases of civil litigation in State and Federal courts in California, and has handled numerous appellate matters.  Ms. Rane has conducted or participated in a number of trials, arbitrations, and appeals before the California Court of Appeal and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

During her career, Ms. Rane has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in various complex entertainment disputes, including breach of contract and copyright infringement disputes. She also has experience representing both plaintiffs and defendants in proceedings involving temporary restraining orders and preliminary injunctions.

Education:

Ms. Rane is a graduate of UCLA School of Law (J.D. 1997).  Ms. Rane also received a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Journalism from California State University of Northridge.

Professional Affiliations:

Ms. Rane is a member of the State Bar of California.  She also is admitted to the United States District Court for the Central District of California, as well as the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

In addition, Ms. Rane is a member of the Los Angeles Copyright Society, the Los Angeles Bar Association, and the Beverly Hills Bar Association, and has worked as an adjunct professor of Legal Writing at the University of Southern California School of Law.
